Day 3: Writing and Future

I was asked by a friend to talk more about writing and where I want to be in the future.

I had not always been into writing and became very interested in fifth grade. That is when I knew that I wanted to be able to write for the rest of my life. No matter what it was, I wanted to write about it.

In high school, I got into yearbook and that is when I began to dislike writing again. Taking yearbook was a big mistake. The teacher picked favorites and we would butt heads a majority of the time. The way she had us writing was not something that I enjoyed it was the same style over and over for every story and she would barely listen to my ideas.

So when I left high school I didn’t really want to write and also I was being told to do something that would pay off more in the end, financially. So I went for psychology and realized quickly that just was not for me. The second semester of my sophomore year in college I decided to try journalism again. I only took a law class which did not really help me determine if I wanted to continue pursuing it.

This is when I transferred to HACC where I am currently taking all communications classes, well one public speaking, but that helps a lot too. I realized that school started to not feel like school anymore, I enjoy going, learning and doing the assignments that the teacher gives. Before I would only complain and procrastinate because I had no motivation to do the work that I did not enjoy, now I enjoy the work I am doing and I can see how it is going to help me in the future.

As a career, I want to be a traveling journalist. I really want to go to different parts of the world and learn about their cultures and how they live. I want to see the richest of the rich and the poorest of the poor all over the world. People always seem shocked when I tell them that and to them I just let them know we are all people and money does not define us.

I want to live like other people do and learn from them. I want to have so many stories to bring back to the states for not only my family but also for other people, especially young people trying to get there like I am now.

My dream job is to be able to work for National Geographic and be their traveling journalist. I have always been just in awe of the content that they create and to become a creator for them would be an absolute dream come true.

I want to take on the craziest of jobs as long as I am learning, making memories, and getting stories to bring back for everyone I am up for the challenge.

I am not just writing to get an audience, I write to connect with people who take the time to read my content. I started writing just in a notebook whenever I had something come to my mind and I had friends push me to start writing for other people to enjoy.

And I hope you all enjoy.
